Once established (12–18 months), Saw Palmetto is drought-tolerant and requires minimal supplemental irrigation in South Florida.

Virtually no supplemental irrigation once established. Water 1-2x per week during first 6 months of establishment only. After establishment, rainfall is entirely sufficient. One of the most drought-tolerant native plants in Florida. SFWMD drought exempt as Florida native. Overwatering established specimens promotes disease — avoid.
